FAQs

Will my app be specific to my business?
Yes! Your app from App Strategy will be designed with your logo, your colors, and custom graphics. Although some platform features may be similar to other apps, the overall app will be customized to your business.

What can I do with my app?
While we have over 30 capabilities for you to incorporate in your app, typically 10 – 12 functions are incorporated.  The bottom line is, you can do just about anything from communicate to your customer base with “Just in Time” communication to allowing your customers to make appointments/reservations.  Bottom line – it is a communication tool for your customers to engage with you and your business.  But to answer this question more seriously, you can drive revenue, advertise, engage with customers real-time, develop a loyalty program, attract customer reviews, order food or product, have special events, make reservations, offer directions... the list is endless and perfect for nearly whatever you want to do with your customers.

How long does the process take?
We don’t develop apps in a day. We want to get it right and include you in the process of developing the look and feel of your app. Typically turn-around time for development is 17-20 days. Depending on your needs, we can have your up in moments (PWA) from your design and content approval OR it can take up to 15-20 more days for Apple to give final approval. Google approvals are much faster, and is usually available 24 – 48 hours after completion of the app build process and it is submitted.  Talk to us about your best publishing options.

What makes your app different than other niche storefront apps?
Nothing other than we are great to work with…as code is code. However for the past 40 years, we grew FIRST as a customer engagement organizations and now we are using our experience and expertise to help our customers engage and serve their customers better.  We design our apps tailored to your needs.  We are just a better results oriented team that is more fun to work with.

Will I get the source code?
No. We cannot release source code. We can provide an APK file, but not the binary for IOS.

How do I update menus, events and other content in my app?
App Strategy Group provides you with an easy-to-use admin console where you can make changes to each section in order to customize your app to fit your needs and those of your guests. When you’re finished you can preview your changes before you promote your app.  Updates are IMMEDIATE! 

How do customers get my app?
Once your app is approved and live, App Strategy Group will send you a promotional kit and ways to add your app to your website and your employees/staff can begin sharing it with your customers.  You will also receive direct links to your app in the iTunes, Google Play and Windows Phone stores along with a QR code that customers can use to download your app in your "store".

How do I make customers aware of my app?
There are many ways to get the word out about your apps availability and its benefits. Once you publish your app, we provide with you with a few tools you can use to support the marketing of your app, including sample Facebook posts, Twitter tweets, QR Codes for in-house marketing materials and a script for your website that prompts users to download your app if they are visiting your website from a mobile phone!

What platforms does App Strategy Group support?
We currently support the generation and deployment of native applications for PWA (our favorite),  iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on operating systems 6.1 and above) and Android Platforms (on operating systems Jelly Bean 4.2 and above), as well as the Windows Phone 8 platform.

Can I remove my app from the App Stores?
Yes. Removing your app once it’s been published from iTunes App Store, Google Play or Windows Phone Marketplace requires manual assistance from the App Strategy Group Support Team. Please contact our support team for assistance.

What type of Analytics are available?
We offer a variety of real-time reports that allow you to track the success of your app, including New User Downloads by Platform (iPhone, Android and Windows) and Downloads by Location (City & State), Total Daily Views, and Most Active Sections. We also provide you with access to your customer profiles, allowing you to better understand who your customers are and how to market effectively to them using your app.

What information do I need to provide to get started? 
If you follow the questions in the app build worksheet online, we will normally have covered all of the questions that we need answers to. We need your business address, telephone number, email for app notifications & customer contact, hours of operation, and specific content unique to your business. Those are the basics. If you are offering a loyalty program, we need to know what your offer will be. i.e. Loyalty punch card : dollars spent, number of visits stamped, gets a free 10th drink.

Do I need to provide the pictures for the backgrounds?
Not necessarily. If you want to include a custom picture we can work it in. But we will be able to come up with a graphics scheme for the site.

Do I need to provide a logo?
We highly recommend that you provide us a logo. We prefer to work with a transparent PNG or JPEG. If you do not have a logo, we can also help you with that.  For best results and unique look it is best to have a logo.  Your logo will also be used or tweaked to develop an Icon tile for your app.

Do you offer push notification services?
Yes. Our apps come standard with unlimited push notification service.

Will your push notification service work in other countries?
Yes. It is a global service and has been tested in many hard to reach areas.

How do I use the push notification service?
As part of your licensing fee, you will be provided a private console to administrate your push notification service.

How extensive is the push notification service?
You can send text only, text combined with an external url, a picture, and text with internal app content link.

For push notifications, can I target specific device users?
Currently you can target all users, registered users, unregistered users or we can develop a group of users.  i.e. employees or most loyal customers. You can send to one or both operating systems or exclude one platform all together.

Can I just send messages to one country?
Yes. The SMS push notification services comes with the ability to Geo fence the notification to a radius. Likewise it also allows you to exclude entire geographical areas.

Can I host the content on my own server? 
No. Our system is not designed to accommodate foreign urls.  And with your monthly licensing fee, you will have full access to a dashboard.

Can I use my own push notification service?
No.  Push notifications are a feature in your new APP as part of our service.

What does your monthly fee cover?
The monthly fee covers your own licensed private app console, Coaching sessions, SMS push notifications, and app content hosting… you can even get creative and update your own content real time.

Why are your upfront costs more than your competitor?
They AREN'T and we still offer a custom app with custom graphics, tailored to your business. While some functions/features may be the same in similar apps, your app will be unique to your business. We also offer more features in our apps. This is an engagement tool for your customers and acts as your “storefront” while your customers are elsewhere.  This isn’t the time or place to shop for bargains.

Do you send an invoice for monthly payments?
You can pay monthly or annually. We will send you monthly invoices to your email.

Can I pay for the monthly fees in advance?
Yes.  You can prepay up-to 12 months.

If I sell my business can I transfer the app to the new owner?
Yes. We can facilitate an on-paper transfer or actually physically transfer the app to their developer account, if they did not want it in our developer account. If there are name changes or code changes, feature changes we may charge additional fees.

Do I need a website?
Basically no. With every app build we provide all of the basic website items you will need. Domain, hosting and SSL, as well as a basic app landing page and all mock-ups for the website to distribute your app.

I have Facebook. Is that good enough for a website?
No. Just using social media for any business is not sufficient to secure your presence on the web.  Social media may help get your message out, but only if your customers happen to see it in their feed or seek out your posts.  The App Dashboard will communicate to your Facebook (as an example) feeds immediately... so if you send a push notification out, it will automatically post on Facebook... GREAT STUFF!
